How Can I Help My Child Develop Healthy Self-Esteem?
I often hear my daughter putting herself down, saying things like "I'm so ugly" or "I can't do anything right." I try to assure her that none of these things are true, but nothing I say seems to make a difference. How do I know if my daughter is suffering from something more serious than insecurity? And what can I say or do to make her feel better about herself?

Mathematic Proof That The Universe Had A Beginning
Mathematic Proof That The Universe Had A Beginning
There are probably more theories floating around to explain the birth, life and death of the universe than for any other scientific concept. Some scientists champion the idea of the Big Bang that created everything around us, others postulate that that we live in a steady state universe with no beginning or end. Now, math has set one thing straight: our universe definitely had a start.

Scientists Found the Itch Molecule—and They Know How to Turn it Off
It is not the louse we hate. Nor is it the mosquito, shirt tag, wool sweater, chicken pock, or sudden rash that torments us—the itching itself is what drives us mad. But finally, scientists have been able to identify the molecule that signals our brain to start scratching us raw—and removing it kills itchiness forever. But don't we itch for a reason?

COMMON SLEEP PROBLEMS
Blessing had a hard time waking up for school during his sophomore year. At first he thought it was because he'd been going to bed late over summer vacation and then sleeping in the next day. He assumed he'd adjust to his school schedule after a couple of weeks. But as the school year progressed, Garrett found himself lying awake in bed until 2 or 3 in the morning, even though he got up at 6:30 AM every day. He began falling asleep in class and his grades started to suffer.

MAKING A CHANGE IN YOUR LIFE
Making a Change in Your Life
When we were kids our parents told us how to act, what to eat, even when to do our homework. But as we start taking charge of our own lives, many of us decide to make changes — stuff like eating right, being more environmentally conscious, or doing better in a sport.

If you're like most people, the easy part is knowing what change you want to make. The challenge is figuring out how to get there and sticking with it.

That's why we've created this feature. It helps make goals easier to reach by breaking them down into manageable steps. After using this tool to develop and plan a goal, you can print out your own goal sheet to guide and inspire you. We also provide examples of how other people reached their goals — they did it, and we know you can too!

Your Secrets to Staying Motivated
We ran a survey asking our visitors how well they do when it comes to setting and meeting their goals. What better time to do this than when everyone's making (or breaking!) New Year's resolutions?
